I recently had a fantastic stay at a hotel near the summit of Puy de Sancy. the location was absolutely perfect for my ski trip - just a short walk to the Mont Dore ski slopes and the cable car. The hotel even had a direct view of the ski area from my room's terrace, which was truly breathtaking.
All in all, everything was spot-on during my stay.

The hotel is situated close to the mountains, making it a good base for skiing or hiking activities. the cable car to the summit of Puy de Sancy is conveniently located nearby. Rooms are functional, with some having nice views of the mountain. the staff is friendly and obliging. Breakfast and food are decent.
The hotel falls short in terms of amenities. There is no pool or gym on the property, and no tea or coffee facilities are provided in the room.

I booked this hotel as a romantic overnight stop on our way back to Calais from a week further south. We normally stay in budget hotels for this purpose eg. Etap, which are what they are, but, as my wife has recently been diagnosed with a serious illness we decided to pay a bit more. Simply, the hotel was very shabby, dingy and dark and needs a good lick of paint. It was very poor value for money with disinterested staff; all very disapointing. I would also say that the picture and other info on the website suggests that this is a pretty and secluded place. Be assured it is not. The photos are a good exapmple of the photographers art namely to make something rather sad look good. Stayed in a total of 4 hotels on this holiday and a cottage. This was by far and away the worst accomodation and certainly not the cheapest. My advice; find somewhere else!

convenient for a 1 night stoppover. would be excellent as a base for a walking holiday with fantastic countryside around it. Very much a ski type holiday hotel
The overuse of pine can be a bit overpowering

I recently had a wonderful stay at a hotel in the Auvergne region of France. The hotel is situated in an incredible spot, right opposite the ski resort and surrounded by breathtaking mountains. The view from my room was absolutely spectacular, with three doors/windows leading out onto a balcony that overlooked the ski area. The room itself was beautifully modern and stylish, with great facilities and an amazingly comfortable bed. I couldn't have asked for a better place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the mountains. Additionally, the hotel's prices were very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food in the restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed the dish of the day, which was a large steak with pepper sauce and delicious potatoes. The breakfast buffet also had a good selection of items, including bread, cheese, pastries, and cured meats. this hotel provided exceptional value for money and exceeded my expectations in every way.
Everything was absolutely perfect.

The surroundings offered amazing views and were great for winter sports lovers. the breakfast buffet had a wide range of options, including salty foods. the staff members were always cheerful and willing to help.
The terrace of one of the hotel's restaurants was not as impressive as shown in the pictures. the accessibility to the swimming pool area could be more wheelchair, friendly.

We spent Christmas at this hotel and enjoyed the festive decorations and cozy ambiance. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant had a decent menu selection. We also appreciated the free parking and the indoor pool for some winter exercise.
The hotel's location was not ideal for exploring the surrounding attractions and had limited transportation options in the winter. Our room was also rather cramped and lacked basic amenities.
